Through the election cycle, we're likely to hear a lot of divisive trade rhetoric this year that pits workers in the United States against workers in other countries. This xenophobic narrative distracts from the fact that U.S. corporations are the force behind trade rules that they've benefitted from. The response to this nationalism is often a return to the neoliberal status quo that has done nothing for workers or the planet, and continues to benefit multinational corporations. We will work to shed light on a third option, one where trade policy works for people and the planet.

Donald Trump has long criticized China for “taking advantage” of the U.S. This nationalist rhetoric obscures who is responsible for harmful trade policy, and makes a scapegoat of other countries like China, furthering xenophobia and sinophobia. Don’t fall for it! #trademyth

Let’s make things clear. U.S. corporations are to blame for luring immigrants to this country to exploit them and drive down wages and working conditions for all workers. This type of scapegoating further inflames anti-immigrant sentiment and violence. We call BS #trademyth
